A big shoutout to our favourite locals during lockdown

A collage of York pubs

It’s fair to say that 2020 has been a stinker of a year, no matter what industry you work in.

Among the worst affected is the UK’s pub sector. Where many businesses have had to endure lockdowns and restrictions, the nation’s pubs have had to cope with all of this plus a trade-throttling 10pm curfew and social distancing rules that have, in some cases, almost halved their overall capacity.

With this in mind, we wanted to do something to show our support for our local pubs — the places that, pre-covid, we regularly frequented and whose very presence make our home town of York the vibrant, quirky place that it is.

In between lockdowns, we made a list of all our favourite pubs, taprooms and taverns, before heading out with our smartphones to take some snaps to put into a great big collage — a love letter of sorts to our favourite locals.

There wasn’t space for them all, and there are bound to be some that we’ve missed, but we wanted to share this image with you all in support not just of York’s plethora of pubs, but the entire nation’s watering holes during this incredibly tough time.

We’d love it if you’d share this image with the people you know — and of course to return to your own favourite locals as soon as it's safe to do so. And give us a shout if you’d like a print for your wall — if enough of you are interested, we’ll produce a limited run!

See you soon, guys!
