5-and-2

The standard Monday–Friday work week is perhaps the most common example of a five-and-two work pattern with employees working five days straight, followed by a weekend off.

But there are many industries — hotels, restaurants, and bars, for instance — where the five-and-two shift pattern is used on a rotational basis so that, while staff get to take it in turns to have weekends off, these same busy periods can also be covered.
