Background

National Slimming and Cosmetic Clinics provides doctor-supervised prescription weight loss programmes to patients at 27 clinics across the UK, as well as a range of non-invasive cosmetic procedures such as botox and fillers. As a business, NSC Clinics aim to be the complete solution for people who want to lose weight safely and reliably.

The Challenge

With so many clinics to manage and a pool of 50 doctors on flexible schedules, efficient staffing is paramount for NSC Clinics — but their rota system wasn’t cutting it, as Tom Pearson, HR & Operations Manager explained.

“Our booking manager used an Excel spreadsheet, and the issues we had were numerous,” Tom told us. “Once a doctor had been booked in and confirmed, the booking manager would need to email a confirmation to the clinic and also to our call centre so that the clinic’s electronic diary could be adjusted.”

Any changes to the schedule meant that laborious process had to be repeated. With all these processes, errors were inevitable — leading to double bookings and inconsistencies between diaries and spreadsheets.
