Custom pay rates

Also referred to as custom role rates, this is the hourly rate paid to an employee for working a particular role or shift type. Custom role rates are commonly used in businesses where staff are capable of working multiple different roles on different days and switch between them on any given day.

Previously, managers would have to keep a note of the role an employee worked each day and the rate for each to ensure that they didn’t over (or under) pay them. Modern people management platforms like RotaCloud, however, allow managers to set custom pay rates for each of the various roles at their business, with payroll reports automatically taking into account not just the number of hours an employee works, but the role they worked and its associated pay rate.
